Preston, Idaho Mini Session | Cannell Family at Winder Reservoir
Aubrey’s family mini session at Winder Reservoir in Preston, Idaho was full of energy, laughter, and all the real-life moments that make family photography so meaningful. I’ve known Aubrey for years—we both worked in education, and she now teaches high school and leads the student council class. I used to do the same at the junior high, so this session felt like a fun reunion.
Her family is the sweetest, and her little ones brought all the energy (and a few wild giggles too!). Like many moms, Aubrey was a bit nervous we wouldn’t get anything usable with all the movement, but I kept reminding her—sometimes the most beautiful photos come from the chaos.

We ran, twirled, tickled, and squeezed in hugs between snack breaks. What I love most about minis like this is how they reflect real life. Not every photo is posed, and that’s what makes them special. You get to see the personalities of your kids just as they are—in all their silly, sweet, wiggly glory.
Winder Reservoir gave us beautiful golden light, soft water reflections, and a quiet setting to keep everyone at ease. We got a few posed shots, but most of the magic happened in the in-between moments: when mom brushed the hair from her daughter’s face, when dad scooped up a giggly toddler, or when the kids all piled together in a happy heap.
