June 14, 2014 • When I arrived in Mt Pleasant, this Utah Backyard Wedding was the talk of the town. I went to a local shop in town to change and use the bathroom and all the employees knew exactly where I was headed. There’s nothing like a small town wedding especially when the bride and groom are high school sweethearts! Once prom king and queen and now bride and groom. Shayla and Cameron were married in the Sego’s beautiful backyard. When I arrived, the yard was beautifully decorated and guests were beginning to arrive. Shayla was getting ready in the house and Cameron was waiting outside. They were both feeling the pre-wedding butterflies. When Shayla came down the aisle in her beautiful white gown, the tears were flowing. Not only from Cameron, but Shayla and pretty much everyone in attendance. It was a beautiful entrance. The ceremony was performed by Shayla’s dad. It was so sweet and special. After the ceremony, we ate, took formal and family pictures and then had a lovely reception. The entire night was simple and absolutely perfect. A special thank you to Raecale Stull for being a wonderful second shooter and driver. You are amazing!
Since you read all the way to the bottom, I’ll let you in on my most embarrassing moment as a wedding photographer so far. After the ceremony, I quickly ran to the bathroom. I realized that my entire skirt had fallen in the toilet instead of to the floor. I started thinking “no no no please no.” But it was definitely too late. Way too late. As if it wasn’t wet enough, I then tried to rinse it out. A light coral knit skirt just doesn’t do wet very well. I was so embarrassed to leave the bathroom in a sopping wet skirt, but so thankful that the mother of the groom supplied me with a back-up. When I told the bride and groom of this horribly embarrassing situation, they were glad it happened so I would never forget their wedding day. That is for sure ;)
