Well, my BATC Photography Class has come to an end due to crazy summers and maternity leave. I loved teaching for Bridgerland Applied Technical College. It was super refreshing to go back to the basics and awesome preparation for my future in photography education. I read/skimmed two or three Intro to Photography textbooks while preparing for my classes, re-read old blogs and rebuilt my foundation. I learned so much from all this prep and teaching. It’s truly amazing how you can ready hundreds of blogs and books and still learn new things by answering student’s questions or seeing how other people take pictures.
Many of you know that I always wanted to be a teacher. My favorite childhood games were playing teacher and tutoring my siblings each summer. After high school, I started studying Special Education at Utah State, but plans changed and photography became my career path. I’m so blessed to have these teaching opportunities still. We had so much fun in all four of my classes that I taught through BATC. I had amazing students with great talent and desire to learn. Also, I want to say a special thank you to all my models throughout the two quarters. Bridgerland will still be offering the Intro to Digital Photography class. I’m not sure who the teacher will be or what type of content they will teach, but it is a great way to get your start in photography. The students in my class were hobbyists, grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads and future business owners. They all had different ideas of what they wanted to get out of the class, but it was truly fun for everyone!
