Some of my favorite photography sessions are the ones where I get to watch a family grow over time. The Richter family’s Snowbasin Resort family photos were especially meaningful because I’ve been photographing Jenna and Cameron since they were newly married.
Getting to see them grow from a couple into the sweetest little family has been such a gift. When a last-minute mini session opening became available, they jumped at the opportunity, and I was so glad they did. Their session was filled with genuine smiles, playful moments, and the kind of connection that only comes from years of loving each other well.

Why I Love Snowbasin Resort Family Photos
Snowbasin Resort is one of my favorite locations for family portraits because it combines mountain scenery with a relaxed, natural atmosphere.
The tall trees, open fields, mountain views, and beautiful light create a timeless backdrop that works perfectly for families of all ages. Whether it’s a full family session or a quick mini session, Snowbasin gives us plenty of variety without needing to spend the entire time moving between locations.
That’s why I love Snowbasin Resort family photos. The setting is beautiful, but it never takes away from what matters most—the people and the connection between them.
Why Mini Sessions Are Perfect for Growing Families
Life gets busy quickly, especially once kids enter the picture.
Between work schedules, school, activities, and everyday routines, finding time for family photos can feel difficult. Mini sessions are a great way to make sure you’re still documenting these seasons of life without needing to commit to a longer session.
For the Richter family, this last-minute opening ended up being the perfect opportunity to capture who they are right now.
Their little family is growing and changing, and these photographs will help them remember this exact stage—the little personalities, the sweet interactions, and the joy they share together.
The Best Family Photos Show Connection
One thing I’ve learned after years of photographing families is that the most meaningful images aren’t always the perfectly posed ones.
The favorites are often the moments in between:
The way parents look at their kids.
The laughter that happens naturally.
The little interactions that show a family’s personality.
My goal during every session is to create space for those moments to happen. I want families to walk away with images that feel like them—not just photographs where everyone happened to smile at the camera.
The Richter family made that easy. Their love and comfort with each other came through in every image.
Why It’s Worth Updating Family Photos Regularly
One of the best parts of being a family photographer is getting to document the same families through different seasons of life.
I’ve photographed Jenna and Cameron since their wedding day, and now I get to capture them as parents with their growing family.
Those changes happen faster than we realize.
Children grow.
Personalities develop.
Families enter new chapters.
Regular family photos create a visual timeline of all those moments that would otherwise be easy to forget.
Preserving Your Family’s Story
Photographing the Richter family was such a joy because it reminded me why I love this work so much. Getting to celebrate families through every stage of life is one of the greatest parts of being a photographer.
As a photographer serving Snowbasin, Huntsville, Ogden, and surrounding Northern Utah communities, I love creating family portraits that feel natural, joyful, and full of connection.
If you’re considering Snowbasin Resort family photos, whether for a mini session or a full family experience, I’d love to help you preserve this season of your family’s story.
