This styled one year studio session was so fun and special to me!  Last fall I had the privilege of photographing Gemma’s beautiful water birth and newborn photos.  Seeing that moment when a new baby comes into the world and the connection they have with their parents is unlike anything else.  Gemma still has that incredible connection with both her mom and dad.

They both came to her studio session.  Her mom had so many adorable ideas of how to style the studio for one year photos, and her dad was the MVP getting all of the best smiles out of her.  Sometimes dads are just what we need to keep those babies happy.  She would just light up every single time she saw him.  It was adorable!

With this kind of session styling can make a huge impact! We were able to get a lot of variety in the photos with different outfits.  Gemma’s mom Aslynn brought several things for her to wear from super casual to dressy.  She thought in advance about what colors she would want in the photos so they would match the nursery when she hangs the photos there.  The pleated dress, chunky sweater, and pink daisy sweatsuit were all to die for!  I made sure to pair the daisy sweatsuit with the matching pink wall and it turned out so cute!

My other favorite part of the session is the ONE wall!  The giant macrame made the perfect textured backdrop and the one balloon was the perfect color!  I’m in love with that tiny chair and the stacked pink pillows.  The only trick was keeping the little one from grabbing the florals.  Once again dad kept her from doing that by being the best distraction every time she noticed it.  I was so impressed to hear that they got almost everything from Amazon at really reasonable prices!  This look would be so easy to duplicate!
