Family Activities for Big Groups | Holyoak & Bair Family

The holyoak/ bair family hasn’t had a real family picture for probably 14 years! It was so fun getting together with them to photograph their family of thirty-two people!

Family Activities for Big Groups

We met at Trapper Park which I have not shot at before! The light was absolutely lovely! All of the children were so well behaved and the shoot went very smooth. When there are so many people, an extended family session can often take up to an hour and a half. We used every bit of time and got pictures of the whole group all the way down to individuals of each child!

Family Activities for Big Groups

With the holidays coming up, I wanted to share some Family Activities for Big Groups to help make memories!!

  1. Have a race through the corn maze!

  2. Watch Home videos together! Even if you can’t get together, share the videos amongst your group communication and chit chat about the good old days. If you can get together, eat popcorn together and recreate old family photos

  3. Have a baking contest or cupcake decorating contest. Have you seen “Nailed It”? My family has a tradition of cupcake decorating around Christmas. After we are finished with the activity, we post the baked goods on social media and have our friends and family vote on their favorite cupcake!

  4. Do a service project together. One year, we each used forty dollars to bless someone else’s lives and shared about it in our group communication. It was really fun to see what everyone did with their forty dollars.

  5. I love asking my parents and grandparents questions about their childhood. I know it can be annoying to be documenting all the time, but these stories will be cherished for years to come. Ask your grandparents to tell you stories from their childhood, and video record it casually so that you have the story documented!

Family Activities for Big Groups
I hope these ideas are fun for you and your family this fall and winter!
