To fully tell you the story of Kaitlin and Andrew we have to go back a few years! Kaitlin wrote out the entire so beautifully that I will let you read it straight from her experience.

“Andrew and I met in 7th grade when we were seated next to each other in math class. I remember that he had a huge binder that took up all of the desk ;) He was a cute, nerdy kid with glasses and long wavy hair. We were in the same friend group and shared a few classes with each other throughout junior high.

“In 9th grade we both auditioned for the school play. I was cast as a nerd and he was cast as a tuba player/ did tech work behind the scenes. Andrew was in charge of the robot for the play (it was a made up play haha so it had a lot of weird elements) and would bump it into me while I read my lines. I think it was his nerdy way of flirting with me ;). Over the course of the year I developed a secret crush on him and decided to ask him to our end of the year “9th grade” dance (I thought he would be too shy to ask me, but he claims he was going to ask me first and I beat him to it). I asked him to the dance on April 27th, 2012 by making signs and standing with them on the stage at play practice and he said “of course yes”.

“On May 11th, 2012 we had a cast party for the play at my friends house. She had a chicken coop in her backyard with chickens that were laying eggs. When i arrived Andrew asked me if I wanted to go look at the chicken coop and I said sure. When we got over there, Andrew reached into the chicken coop and grabbed an egg. I was freaked out because I didn’t know if we were allowed to do that. He handed me the egg and he had written on it, “Will you go out with me?” and I said of course said yes. (Cue the applause from the rest of the cast that was watching:). We spent the rest of the night eating s’mores around the bonfire and have been dating ever since :) Our wedding day will be our 7th anniversary (7 is my lucky number ;)“

“For our first date we walked around the track of our junior high, had a picnic, and talked for hours. We then had my mom drop us off at the movie theater because neither of us had our license yet ;)

“On December 17th 2017, my sisters and I went to take our Christmas card photos at a tree farm. Andrew had been planning a surprise for me with his sister and my sisters. He got to the tree farm early and decorated one of the trees with blue ornaments and lights. He then hid behind the tree while my sisters and I took pictures. They told me that we should take individual pictures so I stood in front of the tree and then they told me to turn around. When I did, Andrew was down on one knee and asked me to marry him :) He proposed with my late grandmother’s ring, which is over a hundred years old. It was really special to me.”

Their wedding day was the most perfect crafted day. They had so many hand made touches through out the day, including a hand stitched veil and hair comb made by Jane, and a hand made wire sculpture on top the cake made to represent a drawing from their grandfather. We enjoyed an intimate evening spent in Mount Rainier National Park a few days before the wedding to take their bridal portraits.

On the wedding day they had friends and family from all over the country come to join them. I loved getting to see their sweet faces as they pledged their lives to one another. They seriously are the most kind and loving people and it was an honor to get to serve them on their wedding day! Congrats to the newly weds! I loved being a Tacoma Washington photographer!
Enjoy!
