I’m so excited to share this engagement AND proposal session with you! Let the world hear right now, that I LOVE secrets!!! At any given point I am the secret keeper for brides-to-be, grooms-to-be and new mommas all the time. And I love it. Its one of the things that creates so much magic with this job!! Not only do I get to capture the best moments of people’s lives, but quite often I get to use my skills to make the client feel special and loved and that is the most important thing to me. I’ve had couples trust me with certain things they wanted their photographer to know and no one else BECAUSE I can keep a secret so everyone, keep that in mind. With all that being said, when Hayley called me and said that she was getting married but the ring wasn’t quite on her finger, I was ecstatic!! I love shooting my Kylee Ann Bride’s proposals for free as an added perk for booking with me early. Well once Hayley told me her wedding date, I knew we didn’t have time to waste getting her amazing pictures to her for announcements so we went ahead and scheduled engagements at Tony’s Grove WITHOUT the ring. The very same morning that I was emailing Hayley about locations and outfits, I got a Facebook message from John that went to my filtered folder. LUCKILY, I check my filtered folder every single day anyway just for things like this (you should too, I bet you have people trying to get ahold of you in Facebook Messenger). Anyway, I planned with John that he would propose AT the engagement session that Hayley and I were discussing at the very moment!! We met up and carpooled to my favorite Cache Valley location which was the perfect excuse to get to know them better. They had me laughing the whole drive, telling me they met because John lives next door to Hayley’s apartment complex and he’s been the manager for the last few years and he’s pretty picky about ONLY letting girls live there. HAHA. They caught each other’s eye a few years ago and thanks to an awesome round of the Question Game one night, they finally went on their first date to Big Hero 6! Since then, they’ve weathered ups and downs of college, friends, the dating game, school, the single’s ward and everything else life has come to throw at them! As we pulled into the parking lot, I was getting nervous about the big moment that was about to happen. All John wanted was an AMAZING background for the proposal!! Well, at Tony’s Grove, you can’t go wrong. The coolest thing was that I allowed Hayley to CHOOSE where she got engaged!! She loved the aspen trees and the light was perfect so we headed up there right away!! I warmed them up with a few poses, and then stepped back and asked the code word “Hey John, what’s your favorite pose so far?” That’s when he turned toward Hayley and took her hands in his and got down on his knee!! I was far enough away that I couldn’t hear what he said, but the shock and happiness overtook Hayley’s face as she realized what he was doing. She said yes, and she was glowing! They were finally engaged and could now start planning the wedding with a ring on her finger!! YAY!! The rest of the evening felt like a dream. They were so relaxed and thrilled to finally be engaged that all they could do is look at each other, giggle and kiss!! We adventured around Tony’s Grove, finding the best trees, rocks and wildflowers for the lovely couple. We even found a moose in the thicket!! I’m so glad to have gotten to capture this happy moment with this special couple! Can’t wait for their wedding in August! Also, shout out to Jessica Nelson Makeup Artistry for the amazing natural hair and makeup and Roolee Boutique for the floral dress!!
