Utah State Capitol Bridal Photos | Editorial Formals Session with Will and Erin

This Utah State Capitol bridal photos session with Will and Erin felt timeless from the very beginning. Abi photographed their formals in downtown Salt Lake City, and everything about the session leaned classy, elegant, and editorial in the best way.

One of my favorite things about this shoot was how intentional their styling felt. Instead of sticking to just one bridal look, they planned two completely different outfits that gave the gallery so much variety while still feeling cohesive and elevated.

Their first look felt modern and relaxed. Will wore a tan suit without a tie, and Erin paired it perfectly with a white sleeveless midi dress that looked effortlessly chic against the architecture of the Capitol building. Then they transitioned into a more traditional formal look for the second half of the session. Will added a tie to elevate the suit, and Erin changed into the most beautiful fitted wedding gown with full lace sleeves and a classic sheath silhouette.

The entire gallery ended up feeling straight out of a magazine.

Utah State Capitol Bridal Photos with an Editorial Feel

The Utah State Capitol is honestly one of the best locations for couples wanting bridal portraits that feel elegant and high-end. The bright stone, grand staircases, archways, and symmetrical architecture create such a clean backdrop for editorial-style photography.

For Will and Erin’s session, we leaned into movement, connection, and quieter in-between moments instead of overly posed shots. That approach helped the images feel natural while still keeping that polished editorial energy they wanted.

Their neutral tones worked perfectly against the Capitol’s soft white exterior. The tan suit added warmth and texture without feeling too formal during the first look, then transitioned seamlessly into a more classic wedding style once they added the second outfits.

I love when couples choose multiple looks for formals because it gives the gallery so much depth. The shorter white dress felt modern and fashion-forward, while the lace gown brought in that timeless bridal feeling. Together, the final gallery felt refined, romantic, and really personal to them.

Why the Utah State Capitol is perfect for classy bridal portraits

Couples travel from all over Utah for Utah State Capitol bridal photos, and it’s easy to understand why. The location photographs beautifully year-round and works especially well for couples wanting a cleaner, more elevated aesthetic.

The Capitol also gives so much variety within one location. We can capture dramatic architectural shots, softer romantic portraits, wide editorial images, and close-up emotional moments all without leaving downtown Salt Lake City.

I photograph many bridal and formal sessions throughout Salt Lake City, Bountiful, Layton, and surrounding Northern Utah areas, and the Capitol continues to be one of my favorite locations for couples wanting something timeless and sophisticated.

Will and Erin brought such calm confidence into this session, and every detail worked together beautifully. Their style choices, the location, and the editorial approach all created a gallery that feels both modern and lasting.

If you’re dreaming of bridal portraits that feel elegant, fashion-inspired, and timeless, I’d love to help bring your vision to life. Reach out through my contact page and let’s start planning your session.
