What to Wear for Family Pictures
It’s definitely the number one question I receive from all of my clients for all types of sessions.
I totally get it… I’ve been there too.
Here are some tips to help you decide what to wear.
Tip 1. Wear something that fits your personality!
There are so many cute trends this days, but don’t follow a trend if it’s not you. Make sure you are 100% comfortable with what you are wearing!
Tip 2. Be aware of your body.
If you don’t want to draw attention to your bottom, cover it with a dress or longer shirt/jacket. If you don’t like your arms, try wearing a long sleeve or 3/4 sleeve shirt. The emotions you have looking in the mirror will be the same emotions you have when you see your photographs. Again, make sure you are 100% comfortable with what you are wearing!!!!
Tip 3. Layer & accessories.
Add scarves, jewelry, watches, belts, headbands, earrings, fun shoes, and jackets or blazers! Not only does this make for an awesome picture by adding texture, but it allows you to bring your personality and style to the scene. Details, details, details!!
Tip 4. Start with a Foundation
Start with a foundation color then add a few accent colors. Use as many tones, textures and patterns as you need to add variety, but keep consistency at the same time.
Tip 5. Avoid Distracting Clothing
Avoid shirts or sweatshirts with big logos or a lot of writing.
Outfit Changes: Bring at least two outfits; one casual and one dress-up outfit.
