Extended family photos are about more than getting everyone to smile at the camera. They’re about documenting the people, personalities, and relationships that make your family unique.
As a Bear Lake extended family photographer, I love helping families preserve those rare moments when multiple generations are together. These sessions are often full of laughter, little personalities, unexpected moments, and memories that become even more meaningful over time.
The Haderlie family session was the perfect reminder that sometimes the moments we don’t plan are the ones we treasure most.

Why Bear Lake Is Perfect for Extended Family Photos
Bear Lake has become one of my favorite places for family photography because it brings people together.
Families travel from different cities and states to spend time together, making it the perfect opportunity to update family portraits while everyone is already gathered.
The beautiful scenery, relaxed atmosphere, and meaningful memories created during vacations make Bear Lake an incredible backdrop for extended family sessions.
Embracing Real Family Moments
One of the biggest misconceptions about family photography is that every child needs to be perfectly behaved for the session to be successful.
That couldn’t be further from the truth.
Real families are playful.
Real families are busy.
Real families have toddlers who don’t always want to leave Mom and Dad’s side.
And those moments are part of your story.
Sometimes the sweetest photographs are the ones that show your child’s personality exactly as they are in that season of life.
A Relaxed Approach to Large Family Sessions
Extended family sessions involve a lot of moving pieces, but having a positive, flexible attitude makes all the difference.
I love when families come prepared to laugh, be patient, and enjoy the experience rather than worrying about every single pose.
My goal is always to create a gallery that includes the classic portraits while also capturing the candid moments that make your family yours.

The Photos You’ll Treasure Most
Years from now, you probably won’t remember whether everyone smiled perfectly.
You’ll remember the little personalities.
The funny expressions.
The grandparents who loved every second.
The children exactly as they were at that age.
As a Bear Lake extended family photographer, I love creating photographs that preserve those relationships and memories for generations.
If your family is planning a reunion or vacation at Bear Lake, I’d love to help document the people who matter most.
