Extended family pictures are truly a legacy. When you have a bigger family it makes getting together really difficult. Especially when families are in different states. Eventually the grandkids get old enough that getting together is almost impossible. But I think about Mina and how important she is to me. My kids and their own kids will surely be the most important things in my whole life experience. Even though coordinating schedule can be difficult, getting together for extended family pictures is so important.

Elise, the older granddaughter is going off to college this month. The second oldest is starting his senior year. In just a few more years they are going to have separate lives of their own. It made me really sentimental that this might be their last extended family session that they ever do.

One thing we really value in our sessions is getting to know the family. I’m not talking about calling clients the right names. We want to get to know more than just a name. We want to know what you want to remember about your family in 20 years. We want to know how you spend your free time together.

It’s completely different being photographed by a complete stranger versus someone you know. I always strive to have my family sessions feel like we’re sharing a meal together in your home. A place you are familiar and comfortable with. I lucked out because I’ve known Brenda and her family for almost 15 years. I grew up babysitting Elise, Ty, and Meg.

I loved getting to know their extended family as well. I was able to capture this family in a really special way. This Bear Lake Extended Family Pictures session will forever be one of my favorites.
