From Engagement Photos to Baby Number Four
Some families become more than clients over the years.
I’ve photographed this family since their engagement session, and I have had the privilege of watching their story unfold through so many seasons of life.
I’ve photographed their maternity sessions, their births, their family photos and all the little milestones in between.
And now, somehow, we are at baby number four.
Meet Luis.
The newest member of a family that is now officially two boys and two girls.

A Fresh 48 With Baby Luis
I met this sweet family at Cache Valley Hospital to document those first hours with their newest baby.
There is something about a Fresh 48 session that I love. Everything is still so new.
The baby is tiny. Everyone is adjusting. The siblings are figuring out their new roles. The parents are taking in the fact that their family has changed again.
You can’t recreate those first couple of days later.
That’s why I love documenting them as they actually happen.
The sleepy cuddles. The tiny fingers. The siblings meeting their new baby. The way everyone looks at each other.
Those are the details that become so meaningful later.
Miggy Sang to Him the Whole Time
One of my favorite details from this session was Miggy.
He sang to Luis for almost the entire time I was there to help calm him down.
It was the sweetest thing.
And that’s exactly the kind of moment I want to photograph during a Fresh 48 session.
It’s not something you can plan or pose.
It’s just a big brother loving on his new baby brother.
Years from now, Luis won’t remember those first hours. But his family will have photographs showing him exactly how loved he was from the very beginning.

Why I Love Photographing Families Over and Over
There is something really special about being invited back again and again.
I don’t just meet a family when they’re expecting a baby and disappear after the newborn session.
I’ve gotten to see this family grow.
I’ve watched them become parents. I’ve watched their kids grow up. I’ve photographed milestones and ordinary family seasons. And now I’ve gotten to welcome another baby with them.
That history changes the way I photograph a family.
I already know the people I’m documenting.
I know their personalities. I know their relationships. I know what their family looks like together.
And every session becomes another chapter in a much bigger story.
Your Baby Is Only This Little Once
Birth photography and Fresh 48 photography aren’t really about getting perfect pictures.
They’re about remembering.
Remember how tiny your baby was.
Remember what your older kids looked like holding them.
Remember those first sleepy days together.
Remember the little things your family did to make the baby feel at home—even when you were still in a hospital room.
Those details disappear quickly.
Your baby grows. Your family settles into its new routine. And before you know it, those first days feel like they happened forever ago.
Photographs give you a way back.
Welcome to the Family, Luis
Baby Luis is the most perfect addition to this family, and I am so grateful that I got to document his first days.
Four babies. Years of sessions. So many milestones.
And now one more little person to add to the story.
