This is Sydney. She is an eleven year old girl who’s life was flipped upside down when she was diagnosed with cancer in October. When Sydney started chemo, she lost her hair, her bones became weak and she started to feel really nauseous after each treatment.
Sydney is a child who had to grow up fast and face one of life’s most difficult challenges. I look back to the year I started middle school and think, man those were rough years. I had short flippy hair, braces and had not grown into my body.
The year Sydney started middle school she was diagnosed with cancer and lost all of her hair. She didn’t let cancer take away her confidence. I admire her for that.
Here is something we can all learn from Sydney today: Enjoy the little things in life. Don’t let all the bad and all the busy consume your life.
We’ve agreed to do a photoshoot through every stage of hair for Sydney. On this photoshoot, the thing she wanted to do the most was play on the toys in the mall. With all the grown up things she’s been dealing with lately, it brought so much joy to me to know that the small, innocent girl inside of Sydney is still there enjoying the small things. She is just a little stronger and a little braver each day.

Sydney was chosen to be honorary Miss Cache Valley at the local pageant. She’s a princess through and through.
