There is something so fun about photographing someone you remember as a little kid and suddenly getting to take their senior photos.
I worked as an aide in a kindergarten class when Ava was in kindergarten, so getting to photograph her senior session years later was especially meaningful. She is absolutely darling, and I loved getting to see how much she has grown while capturing this exciting season of her life.
Senior Photos in Downtown Logan
For Ava’s senior session, we headed to Downtown Logan for a mix of urban scenery and natural, relaxed portraits.
Downtown Logan is such a fun setting for senior photography because there are plenty of different textures, buildings, sidewalks, and little spots to work with. It gives a senior gallery variety without needing to travel all over the valley.
It also gives us plenty of opportunities to create photographs that feel a little more personal and modern than a traditional portrait session.
Photographing Someone You’ve Known Since Kindergarten
One of my favorite parts of this session was simply getting to photograph Ava after knowing her for so many years.
I still remember her from kindergarten, which made seeing her all grown up and getting ready for graduation a little surreal.
There is something special about senior photography when you have a history with your client. I wasn’t meeting Ava for the first time at her senior session. I got to see a little glimpse of where she started and then document where she is now.
And she made it very easy. She is darling and so much fun to photograph.
A Summer of Photographing Sisters
Ava’s senior session was also a fun continuation of a very special summer for me.
I’ve had the opportunity to photograph Ava and her sisters during several important seasons this summer. Each session has been different, and I’ve loved getting to document their family through engagements, weddings, and now senior portraits.
Being invited back to photograph multiple members of the same family is one of my favorite parts of this job. It means I get to watch families grow and celebrate different milestones alongside them.
Making Senior Photos Feel Like You
Senior photos don’t have to look one specific way.
Some seniors want mountain scenery. Others want downtown Logan, their favorite sport, a meaningful location, or a combination of several settings.
The best senior sessions are the ones that give you photographs that actually feel like you at this point in your life.
For Ava, Downtown Logan gave us a fun backdrop for this season, while her personality did the rest.
These are the photographs she’ll look back on years from now and remember who she was right before graduation.
