5 Simple Tips to Help You Capture the Perfect Family Photo with Little Kids | Family Pictures Lacey Washington
Taking family pictures with little kids can be a challenging and daunting task. But, it doesn’t have to be! Here are five simple tips to help you capture the perfect family photo of your little ones.
We have been doing this for over a decade and have ALL the tools to make every single session straight magic.
Tip 1: Make your kids a part of the prep
Let them help pick out their outfits by putting out a few options that would work or letting them pick the final accessories. Show them pictures of other family’s to get them comfortable with whats going to happen. Practice smiling. Make it a fun experience for them.
Tip 2: Bring Special Props if needed!
Don’t be afraid to use props or add some fun and creative elements into the picture. Bring along a few favorite toys or games that your child loves to play with. Doing this will help keep them engaged and make them feel more comfortable in front of the camera. It also helps create an environment where everyone is having fun instead of feeling like they’re posing for pictures all day long.
These sweet girls were nervous about pictures. Their parents brought the stuffies they bring everywhere to the shoot. It was a great way to capture something SO special to them AND help them feel comfortable at the same time.
Tip 3: Have fun
When we are having trouble getting your children (especially younger ones) to stay still during photos, we make it fun. Hugs, running, jumping, twirling, holding hands, etc.
Tip 4: Provide Praise & Encouragement instead of Nagging
Make sure you provide lots of positive reinforcement throughout the entire process by providing praise and encouragement when needed. Giving compliments like “good job” or “your smile is so bright” not only boosts their self-confidence but also encourages them to stay focused during the session. It also helps create a pleasant atmosphere that will make it easier for everyone involved in taking pictures together! It’s so much better than nagging them to smile!!!
Tip 5: Take Breaks!
Last but not least, don’t forget to take breaks throughout the process – even if it’s just for five minutes every now and then – so that everyone can reset mentally and physically before continuing with the photo session. This will help ensure that everyone remains focused on what needs to get done without getting burned out too quickly by having too much time spent in front of the camera all at once.
Don’t worry I will still follow you around and capture gorgeous, candid moments while everyone takes a reset.
