Happy Anniversary to us! Today is our Seventh Wedding Anniversary!!
Seven years ago two babies walked hand and hand out of the temple and were greeted by our closest family and friends.. It was a blustery day in Portland. The umbrella blew inside out, and the rain took us inside for family pictures. I don’t remember everything but when I look back on our wedding day pictures I can feel the joy we felt.
In the past seven years, I’ve felt that joy on several more occasions. The birth of our first son, the birth of our daughter and the birth of our baby. Three of the best moments of my life. I have felt that joy when I take my family to the ocean. I have felt it when we’re gathered around the table eating dinner and talking about our days, when I hear my kids running around in an intense made up game, laughing, jumping, happy and I feel it when I hear giggles. I feel that same joy when daddy comes home from work or from a long trip and the kids attack him with love.
Remembering the Joy
We’ve had our fair share of downs too. Some of our trials are obvious. But a lot of things have been private. We fight, we have bad days, down days, trials. But what I want to REMEMBER are the things that bring me JOY.
For our anniversary this year, I printed a picture from each year where I felt that love for Luke and our family the VERY most. I added them to this Hanging Branch box with our name in gold on the cover. I’m a photographer…and a mom…so there are about a billion pictures to choose from, but now I have a box full of that love.
Piper’s little fingers sifted through these photos, and one day her children will, and her children’s children.
