HUGE HUGE Wedding Giveaway + 5th Birthday Celebration!

Five years ago my fiance gave me a gift that started a whole new chapter in my life. Luke and I had been engaged for about three months. We were celebrating our first *official* Valentine’s day together. Luke’s always been super sweet about Valentine’s day. Our first Valentine’s day ( a few weeks after meeting) he sent me roses all the way to Washington. The next Valentine’s day, he sent a little Valentine’s card from his mission (and every other female he knew, but whatevs ;))

This was our third Valentine’s day. He was walking around for a week with a *I’ve got a secret* grin on his face. Luke’s never been good at hiding surprises. It’s pretty cute to watch when he’s super excited about a gift, but I still don’t think I’ve seen him so proud of a gift since that day. Luke had sold his Xbox (aka baby) and bought me my very first dslr camera! He knew how much I wanted it and made a huge huge sacrifice so I could chase my dreams.

Thus began Kylee Ann Photography. Valentine’s day marks 5 years since I owned my first dslr. I was completely clueless and inexperienced, but I NEVER stopped dreaming. I would have never guessed in a million years I’d be where I am today. It’s all thanks to my family (especially Luke) for believing in me.

(p.s. Don’t feel too bad – It ended up working out for him because even though we were super poor newlyweds, I was able to buy back his xBox after a few weddings just six months later.)

Recap of the last 5 years  | Some major accomplishments:

Though there have been many many struggles, late nights and tears over the last 5 years, it’s amazing to look back and see what you can accomplish when you put your mind to it. I never dreamed of any of this when I started Kylee Ann Photography, but now I will never stop dreaming.

• • UPGRADES // Lots of upgrades. Lots of trying new lenses. I’ve now owned over 15 different lenses over the past 5 years and over 7 camera bodies. We’re back down to 4 favorite lenses and 2 camera bodies.
  • REBRAND // I “rebranded my business” several times. Lots of logos, a million websites and most importantly – a distinct shooting and editing style. Now when people see a Kylee Ann picture they know it’s mine.
  • PUBLISHED // My work has been in over 50 blogs, inside printed magazines and even on the cover of two incredible publications. Last year we even placed 5 times in a major contest. Our beautiful clients are famous all over the nation.
  • EDUCATION // I’ve attended workshops, major conferences and lots of webinars over the last 5 years. I’ve learned SO many things from so many amazing photographers from all over the world.
  • CONFIDENCE // I gained confidence in my business, in my photography skills and most importantly in my self.
  • COMMUNITY // When I started shooting in Cache Valley, the photographer world was a little rough. Photographers weren’t really friends. And I didn’t really like that. I found a few close photo friends and started with them. Over the years our friend group has grown and grown…and now the Cache Valley photographers are a big happy family. I found some of my closest friends. #communityovercompetion
  • OUR PHOTOG BLOG // I started a blog, a group and a network of photographers. I teach, encourage and host Kylee Ann Sleepovers…locally and in amazing destinations. I love love love to teach and share resources with others growing a business or learning photography. It’s been a huge passion alongside being a photographer/business owner.
  • GROWTH // I hired an assistant and a full-time photographer. Rachel has changed my business and life! We both shoot full-time, and take on double the Kylee Ann weddings each year. I also hired a graphic designer to do all my promotional materials. The growth has been so incredible, and unexpected.

THE 5th Birthday Giveaway!

If you know me, you know I LOVE birthdays. Well the Kylee Ann Photography 5th birthday happens to be a HUGE deal. There have been so many accomplishments and struggles through the past 5 years and they deserve to be celebrated.

Kylee started Kylee Ann Photography 9 years ago, and has since grown from a one woman amateur show to a full associate team. We shoot 50-75 weddings a year, and thrive on kindness and service. After a year of teaching Intro to Photography at the local technical college, she discovered that helping other entrepreneurs create thriving businesses is what fires her up! She hosts semi-annual Kylee Ann Sleepovers all over the US, speak at conferences and teach online courses about running a small business and marketing.
