Brandi’s water broke at home on Saturday morning. They cleaned up and headed to the hospital in the early afternoon. When they got to the hospital, Brandi still hadn’t started having contractions so they decided to start her on pitocin. Several hours later she got her epidural and the waiting game started. She made slow progress until the middle of the night when she reached a 9. The nurse was hopeful she’d be at a 10 and pushing in the next hour or so. 4 hours passed and Brandi stayed at that 9. After being up ALL night, everyone was so discouraged and exhausted. After the 4th check, the nurse decided to do a few practice pushes to see if they could move the baby past her cervix without waiting for it to be complete. It worked (or so we thought) so they started pushing. Casey was the best labor coach and support all day and night and Brandi was super momma. After almost an hour of pushing, the nurse checked Brandi again and she was back at a 9. Baby Jae was posterior which was causing the cervix to close back down. After Brandi started pushing on her side, her cervix opened back up and she continued to push. After two hours, Brandi was soo exhausted (and thirsty.)The doctor on call (Dr Olson) came in to check on her and they decided to try the vacuum. A few pushes and 15 minutes later, baby Jaedyn Mae finally was here!
Sweet baby Jaedyn screamed and screamed the most precious newborn screams. She was a big 7lbs10oz and 19inches long. It only took a few seconds to wrap her parents around those little tiny fingers.
