I was at Utah State when Brittany was in her rappelling accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down. I read the news articles and watched the stories of this girl my age that was went from being on the USU Cross-Country & Track to not being able to walk at all.
👩🎓
One of the BEST memories from my college graduation was watching Brittany walk across stage with her crutches. There was not a dry eye in the stadium. Her story is incredible inspiring, and she has to much light to give to this world. Go follow her journey @brittanyanne278
“For the last 6.5 years I have struggled with my relationship with my wheelchair & paralysis. I always wondered if people realized that I haven’t always been in a wheelchair. I wasn’t born this way and I know & remember what it’s like to have fully functioning & strong legs. For years I’ve been hiding my crutches & wheelchair from the camera. Pushing & throwing them just barely out of view in these small squares. THEN SOMETHING MAGICAL HAPPENED YESTERDAY. For the first time, when I saw this picture, I didn’t see my wheelchair sticking out like I sore thumb. I saw Brittany – a strong, persistent, kind, stubborn, empathetic and loving wife, friend, sister, daughter & mother. Cue happy tears because I really didn’t think this day would ever come. I don’t fully identify with my wheelchair, since I can walk with crutches & walkers. But my wheelchair has enabled me to take on motherhood & plays a huge part in my life. I cannot say thank you enough to @kyleeannstudios for capturing & empowering me to feel confident in my wheelchair. I will cherish these forever.”
