This session was one of those extra sentimental ones—the kind that fills your heart while you’re shooting and again when you’re editing. Dustin and Lisa have been some of our best friends for 16 years. We’ve traveled together and shared so many of life’s big and small moments. So getting to take their first professional family photos at Snowbasin Utah was incredibly special.

Skye, their sweet and spunky pup, was on her best behavior and clearly loves her little brother. Soren, their adventurous little guy, is the kind of kid who probably has more passport stamps than I do! He’s full of life, energy, and curiosity, which made capturing his personality a total joy.

We chose Snowbasin for this shoot because it matched their spirit perfectly. Wide open views, golden mountain grasses, and a moody sunset that felt like it came just for them. Fall in the mountains always hits different, and this night? It was perfect.

One of my favorite parts of this session was how naturally everything unfolded. Skye followed Soren like a loyal big sister, and Lisa and Dustin just soaked it all in. The hugs, the twirls, the giggles—none of it was forced, and that’s what made it magic. It’s moments like these that remind me how powerful photography can be in freezing the realness of family life.
