This Logan Utah lilac family photos session for the Schwartz family was the definition of “Utah spring does what it wants.” We originally planned the session around peak lilac bloom, but the flowers came in almost a month early. So we moved things up to catch them at their best.
Then it snowed.
Because of course it did.
We had to reschedule again, and honestly, the Schwartz family handled the whole thing with so much patience and grace. No frustration, no stress—just total trust that we would figure it out. And we did. When we finally got everyone together, everything lined up perfectly and the session turned out so sweet.

Logan Utah lilac family photos during unpredictable spring weather
Logan in the spring is beautiful, but it is never predictable. Lilac blooms shift quickly depending on temperature, and sometimes you end up chasing peak bloom by the day. Add in late-season snow, and you basically get every season in a two-week window.
That’s exactly what happened here.
Once we finally made it to the Lilac Location in Logan, the timing couldn’t have been better. The blooms were full, soft, and fragrant, and the colors added the prettiest natural backdrop for family portraits.
Even with the weather chaos leading up to the session, the final evening felt calm and peaceful. The light softened beautifully, and the lilacs gave the entire gallery a romantic, almost nostalgic feel.

Why patience pays off in seasonal family photos
This session is such a good reminder that seasonal family photos in Utah often require a little flexibility. Blooms don’t always wait for scheduled dates, and weather rarely follows the plan.
But when families are willing to adjust, the results are always worth it.
The Schwartz family was incredibly easygoing through the entire process. Even with the reschedules, they showed up ready to enjoy the time together, and that energy always translates into better photos.
Kids relaxed faster, parents weren’t stressed, and everyone leaned into the experience instead of worrying about perfection.
That’s usually when the best moments happen.
Logan Utah lilac family photos at peak bloom
When everything finally lined up, the lilac location in Logan gave us exactly what we were hoping for. Soft purple blooms, fresh greenery, and that early evening light that makes everything feel warm and glowy.
We focused on a mix of full family portraits, smaller groupings, and candid moments between poses. The lilacs naturally framed the family without overpowering the images, which is exactly what you want from a seasonal location like this.
Even though the journey to get there included snowstorms and rescheduling, the final gallery feels effortless and timeless.
I photograph families throughout Logan, Hyde Park, North Logan, and surrounding Cache Valley areas, and spring sessions like this always remind me how quickly everything changes from year to year.
This Logan Utah lilac family photos session is a perfect example of how patience, flexibility, and trust can turn unpredictable weather into something really beautiful.
