This Mendon Hills senior photos session with Lydia was seriously such a dream. She is truly as sweet as they come, and the entire session felt soft, relaxed, and so true to her personality.
We photographed her senior pictures in the Mendon Hills, which is one of my favorite locations in Cache Valley for seniors who want a mix of mountain views, open fields, and warm golden light without feeling overly busy or crowded.
And one thing I absolutely loved about Lydia’s session was that she brought three different outfits.
Honestly? Multiple outfits can completely change the feel of a senior gallery in the best way.

Mendon Hills senior photos with multiple outfit changes
One of the biggest mistakes seniors make is thinking they need to choose just one “perfect” outfit for their session. But senior year is such a unique season of life, and your photos should reflect more than one side of your personality.
That’s exactly why Lydia’s gallery worked so well.
Each outfit brought a different energy to the session. One felt soft and classic, another felt more casual and relaxed, and another added a little extra personality and confidence. Instead of every image feeling the same, the gallery felt layered and dynamic while still staying cohesive.
That variety matters so much when you look back on your senior photos years later.
Why outfit variety makes senior photos feel more personal
Senior portraits should feel like you—not like you borrowed someone else’s Pinterest board.
That’s why I always encourage seniors to think about outfits that represent different parts of their personality and lifestyle. Maybe one look feels more dressed up, another feels sporty or casual, and another reflects your everyday style.
For Lydia, every outfit still felt true to who she is. Nothing felt forced or overly trendy. The changes simply gave us more opportunities to showcase different sides of her personality throughout the session.
And in a location like the Mendon Hills, outfit variety photographs especially well because the scenery changes so naturally with movement and light.

Mendon Hills senior photos with soft, natural light
The Mendon Hills are honestly one of my favorite spots for senior sessions in Northern Utah. The rolling hills, tall grass, and mountain backdrop create the prettiest natural texture without overwhelming the photos.
As the evening light softened, everything started glowing in that dreamy Cache Valley way that makes outdoor senior portraits feel timeless.
For Lydia’s session, we used the location to create a balance of posed portraits and more candid movement shots. Walking, laughing, adjusting outfits between setups—those little in-between moments often end up becoming favorites because they feel natural and genuine.
Why senior photos should celebrate personality
One thing I loved most about Lydia’s session was how comfortable she became as the evening went on. By the third outfit, she fully relaxed into the experience, and her confidence really started showing up in the photos.
That’s why I always tell seniors not to stress about being “good in front of the camera.” Most people loosen up naturally once they realize the session is supposed to feel fun, not stiff.
I photograph Mendon Hills senior photos and senior sessions throughout Logan, Cache Valley, and Northern Utah, and I truly believe the best galleries happen when seniors embrace their personality instead of trying to fit a certain mold.
Lydia’s session felt beautiful because it reflected her—sweet, confident, natural, and completely herself.
