Northern Utah Newborn Photographer: Dos and Don’ts of Newborn Photos for New Moms
Bringing your sweet baby into the world is one of the most magical and emotional times of your life. Capturing those tiny toes, sleepy smiles, and snuggly swaddles is something you’ll treasure forever. As your trusted Northern Utah Newborn Photographer, I’ve worked with hundreds of new moms and babies, and I’m here to share a few quick dos and don’ts to help you get the most out of your newborn photo session!

DO: Schedule Early
Newborn photos are best taken within the first 5-14 days of life. This is when your baby is still super sleepy and easy to pose. Booking while you’re still pregnant ensures you’ll have a spot during that perfect window.
DON’T: Stress If Baby Isn’t “Perfect”
Whether your baby has flaky skin, baby acne, or won’t stop crying—don’t worry! I’ve seen it all. Newborn photographers are skilled in soothing, posing, and editing so your final gallery still looks dreamy and polished.

DO: Keep Baby Cozy and Fed
A full tummy and a warm room are the magic combo for a happy, sleepy baby. Feed your baby right before the session and dress them in something easy to remove without waking them up.
DON’T: Overthink Outfits
Simple is best. I bring wraps, headbands, and props to match my light and timeless style. You don’t need to stress about outfits for baby—just bring a backup onesie and a pacifier (even if they don’t usually take one—it can be a lifesaver!).

DO: Get in the Photos
I know it’s hard to feel photo-ready after just having a baby, but I promise you’ll never regret stepping in front of the camera. These photos will be a treasure for your baby as they grow. I guide you every step of the way to make you feel confident and beautiful.
DON’T: Worry About Siblings or Toddlers
If you’re bringing older siblings, let me handle the chaos! I’ve got tricks, bribes, and plenty of patience to get sweet sibling shots, even if big brother or sister isn’t thrilled at first.

Choosing the right Northern Utah Newborn Photographer means working with someone who not only loves babies but knows how to create a calm, safe, and beautiful experience. I’d love to help you capture this fleeting, tender stage of life—because it truly goes by in a blink!
