Chason and I met while we were sophomores in high school. We had the same Driver’s Education class together and we quickly became friends. We always jumped at the chance to practice driving together with our two other best friends. We even took our driving test together–I scored better, just saying. Six months or so later, he finally asked me to be his girlfriend in senior hall at Skyline High School.
Chason took me to his cousin’s graduation ceremony and graduation dinner for our first date. In the morning of our first date, we attended the graduation ceremony. We had a few hours before the dinner started so we decided to go to a movie–we saw “Something Borrowed”–at the theater that Chason would later become a manager at. Small world, right?
After the movie, we went to the dinner at Spaghetti Factory downtown. That day, I met his entire family. Needless to say, I was quite intimidated and overwhelmed but, I felt very comfortable and part of the family by the end of the night. For years, going to the movies has become a staple in our relationship and we always celebrate special occasions at Spaghetti Factory.
Chason proposed to me on our fourth anniversary. On the morning of the day he proposed, he had arranged for my mom and I to get manicures and pedicures from our favorite salon–which I thought was for my mom’s birthday. When he picked me up for our date, he brought me flowers and took me on a picnic overlooking the Salt Lake Valley. He then blindfolded me and drove me to an unknown location.
His best friend helped me out of the car and walked me into a building. When Chason asked me to take the blindfold off, we were standing in our old high school and in the exact same spot that he asked me to be his girlfriend four years previously. Chason then got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I sobbed like a baby and he had the whole thing photographed by a family friend.
That night we, of course, went to eat at our favorite place–Spaghetti Factory.
I am so excited to photography Chason and Jennifer’s wedding this May. They have been together SO long already. Because of their love story and traditions, their wedding is filled with unique personal details that are going to be so fun to photograph!
