A San Francisco family session is one of my favorites to shoot!

One spot that I absolutely love shooting is the Sutro Baths. I get the most variety in just one single session there and I have it’s beautiful landscape to thank for it. 

The Warner family recently moved to the Bay Area from Utah. I definitely knew we were kindred spirits because I just moved to California from near where they were living in Utah. When they said they wanted to go into the city I knew the Sutro Baths was the perfect place to capture their first family pictures in their new location.

The landscape is no joke in this nature capsule on the edge of the big city. I knew we needed shots with the wind warped, cliffside cyprus trees behind the sweet family. The contrast of all the green foliage against the blue ocean is unreal! Thanks to all the humidity, this beautiful vibrant area grows so many different plants and flowers. So we got some family shots in the greenery and headed down the cliff. Of course we had to get some shots with the 5th member of the family, their cutie dog Grizzly!

As we headed down the cliff, down the long staircase, Judd threw his youngest boy, Mason up on his back and carried him down as I caught some candids of the beautiful ocean behind the family as they trekked down. As we got to the landing we were able to get some great shots of the family on the ruins of the sutro baths.

We hit the bottom where the sand met the sea as the golden sun was just at the horizon. The tide was low and we were able to shoot right up against seal rock. This is where we got some of my favorite shots of Jessie and her boys. 

I loved showing the Warners one of my favorite, sacred, spots on the edge of this busy city. We got so many different backdrops that they will cherish for years to come. I hope you loved this San Francisco Family Session!
