Some sessions feel like a warm fire in the middle of winter, and that’s exactly how I’d describe Garrett and Ash’s Snowbasin winter engagements. Their love is joyful, grounded, and deeply connected. Photographing this season of their story in the snow felt both peaceful and magical.
Garrett is my nephew, so when he told me he was planning to propose to Ash in the Redwoods (yes, actual dream proposal), I was already emotional. After Ash said “yes” beneath those towering California trees, Garrett asked if I would photograph their engagement session once they were home. That was the easiest yes ever.

From the Redwoods to the Mountains
Ash loves winter, so snow was a must for their engagement photos. Snow has been a little unpredictable this year, but Snowbasin absolutely delivered. The mountain had just enough fresh snow to give us that winter wonderland feel, paired with stunning peaks, evergreen trees, and wide-open mountain views.
It felt quiet, scenic, and romantic, everything you want for a winter engagement session.
Exploring Snowbasin Together
Even with cold temperatures, Garrett and Ash were total champs. We explored different spots around Snowbasin, moving with intention but never rushing. Between the mountain views, the crisp air, and their natural chemistry, every part of the session felt effortless.
They were playful, affectionate, and completely in sync. Watching them interact made it obvious that their relationship is rooted in deep friendship and genuine love. Those are always the sessions that photograph the best.
