There are some commercial photography projects that start as one shoot and quickly turn into something much bigger. Current Tyed is shaping up to be exactly that kind of project.
I recently photographed this swimsuit brand with Abi and McKayla at a friend’s backyard pool in Providence, Utah. Current Tyed creates swimwear for both kids and adults, so we wanted to create imagery that felt fun, natural, and true to the experience of actually wearing their swimsuits.
And this is just the beginning. We have three shoots planned for this project, and we’ll likely bring even more of our photographers into the Current Tyed campaign as it continues.
As a swimsuit brand photography team, I love projects like this because there are so many opportunities to create a large, cohesive collection of images that a growing brand can use across its website, social media, advertising, and marketing.

Creating a Full Visual Library for a Swimsuit Brand
When you’re photographing swimwear, one gallery usually isn’t enough.
A swimsuit brand needs images that show the products from different angles and in different environments. Customers want to see the fit, colors, patterns, details, and overall feel of the brand.
For Current Tyed, the backyard pool gave us a natural environment for creating lifestyle-focused imagery.
Instead of making the swimsuits feel like they’re simply being modeled for a camera, we could photograph them in the kind of setting where customers would actually wear them.
Swimming. Playing. Hanging out. Enjoying a summer day.
That context makes the images much more useful for marketing.
Why Lifestyle Photography Works for Swimwear
When someone shops for a swimsuit online, they can’t try it on before purchasing.
Photography has to do a lot of work.
Beautiful product images show the details, but lifestyle photographs help customers imagine themselves—or their kids—actually wearing the product.
That’s especially important for a brand like Current Tyed that offers swimwear for both children and adults.
A pool setting immediately communicates the purpose of the product while giving us room to create photographs that feel energetic, summery, and authentic.

A Backyard Pool Can Become a Commercial Set
You don’t always need a large production studio to create professional commercial photography.
For this Current Tyed shoot, we used a friend’s backyard pool in Providence, Utah.
The location gave us exactly what we needed: water, space, natural light, and an environment that felt like a real summer day.
That’s one of the things I love about commercial photography. The right location doesn’t have to look like a traditional photo studio. It just needs to support the story the brand is trying to tell.
Three Shoots, One Bigger Brand Story
This project is going to end up being a big one.
We’re working across three shoots and will likely involve more of our photographers as the project develops. That gives Current Tyed the opportunity to build a substantial image library while keeping the overall visual direction cohesive.
For an established or growing brand, that’s incredibly valuable.
Instead of scrambling to create new photographs every time a campaign launches, you have an organized collection of professional images ready to pull from.
That content can support:
- E-commerce product pages
- Website banners
- Social media
- Paid advertising
- Email marketing
- New product launches
- Seasonal campaigns
Commercial Photography for Growing Brands
One of my favorite parts of working with brands is seeing how a single photography project can grow into an ongoing creative partnership.
Current Tyed is a great example.
What started with one commercial shoot is already becoming a larger campaign involving multiple photographers and multiple sessions. That allows us to create much more variety while giving the brand a consistent visual identity.
Whether you sell swimwear, children’s products, clothing, or another consumer product, professional photography should give you more than a handful of pretty pictures.
It should give you content you can actually use.
As a swimsuit brand photography team, we love creating lifestyle and commercial images that help customers understand not just what a product looks like, but what it feels like to use it.
If you’re looking for commercial photography in Providence, Cache Valley, or throughout Utah, we’d love to create a photography plan that gives your brand the content it needs to keep growing.
