My amazing friend, Rachel, is a military wife, mother and amazing writer. This summer while her husband is away for the first time at training she decided to keep herself busy by starting a project called “Beautiful Me” where she uses a questionnaire to get women to recognize their true beauty.
“We live in a society that is so focused on the physical appearance of women. We are expected to reach an impossible standard of personal beauty. I want to change that. I want to live in a world where women feel beautiful. Where we walk with our heads held high & a genuine smile on our faces. We are beautiful, every single one of us. Our beauty comes in our divinity and the truth that we are created in the image of our Heavenly Father. I cannot deny that I don’t feel the pressure to fit into the impossible mold of what the world thinks I should be. It takes a toll on us in every facet of our lives. Let’s change this, you and I. Let’s create a safe haven for women in their hearts. A place where they can come to remind themselves of their true beauty.” (Rachel In Real Life, 2013)
I decided to take her Beautiful Me challenge and it really got me thinking about what true beauty really is. Read my Beautiful Me interview >> here. <<
My twin sister, Lauren, also took the challenge. This is my favorite question she answered. “In the bible the Lord wants Samuel to chose a new king. In 1 Samuel 16:7 Samuel is counseled by the Lord, ‘Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.’
My beauty mantra is, ‘I want to be beautiful for Him.'”
