Utah Extended Family Pictures at Bear Lake with the Brewer Family
There’s something magical about Utah Extended Family Pictures at Bear Lake. Gathering generations together in one place, celebrating connection, and freezing time with portraits that last forever—it’s one of the biggest joys of my job. The Brewer family invited me to capture their extended family session this year, and it was such a beautiful morning by the lake.

A Special Morning by the Water
Last year, I photographed Jessica’s family (one of the daughters-in-law) alongside her relatives who had traveled from overseas. That experience was unforgettable, so when her in-laws planned another gathering this summer, I couldn’t wait to capture it.
Some family members made the drive up to Bear Lake at sunrise, while others stayed overnight at Jessica’s cabin so they’d be ready early. We met on a quiet Saturday morning, with the soft light glistening over the lake and mountains. The calm beauty of Bear Lake created the perfect backdrop for this meaningful session.
Utah Extended Family Pictures at Bear Lake: Capturing Generations
Extended family sessions are some of my favorites because they offer so much variety. During the Brewer’s session, we started with full group portraits—grandparents surrounded by their children and grandkids. Then we moved into smaller family units, sibling photos, and even individual headshots. It’s such a fun and efficient way to get everything done at once, with coordinated outfits and matching styles that grandma can proudly display on her gallery wall.
One moment that stood out was when grandma and grandpa mentioned this might be their last big family photo session with all their kids together. That hit me hard. While I believe you can never have too many pictures, knowing how special this session was made every click of the shutter feel sacred.

Why Extended Family Photos Matter
Life doesn’t slow down. Kids grow, families spread out, and moments pass quickly. Extended family sessions give you something priceless: the chance to see the bigger picture of your family story. These portraits will be shared, displayed, and passed down for generations.
If you’re planning a reunion or family gathering, I’d love to document it for you. Extended family sessions are simple, stress-free, and so worth it.
