Why your photographer loves what they do
I often say that I have the dream job! Being a family photographer is so rewarding! Don’t get me wrong, it can be a lot of work to get 7 two year olds smiling at the same time, but when you do, it’s priceless!
Capturing and documenting families is such an honor. In a world where you don’t know what is going to happen next, photos mean everything. I have had several friends go through really hard things and tell me that pictures mean so much to them after the trial they have faced. I love seeing families make family pictures a priority and tradition for their family. The more you take pictures together, the easier and more comfortable it becomes.
I love scrolling Facebook or Instagram and seeing the photos I have taken as my friends and clients profile pictures. I love people who cherish photos and love them as much as I do!
When my grandma died, I coordinated the gathering of photos for the funeral video. Family members would send me screenshots of pictures, and It was awesome that I had the original files. I need to be named the family historian! I need to be better about my organization system though, it’s pretty chaotic! Do you have a system that you love?
One of my dearest clients lost her husband tragically a few weeks ago. I had been taking their pictures twice a year for the past 6 years. She has so many precious photos from those photo sessions and now that is what she has to remember her sweet, amazing husband and Dylan, who lost his dad too young, has lots of photos to remember his dad.
When you lose someone, pictures truly become priceless. Capturing memories, love, and legacy has always been a passion of mine. I know I can be annoying with the picture taking but it is truly so important to me to document my loved ones! I am so grateful that I get to do what I do for a living and serve so many families by capturing their special moments!
