Flat Lays are good for new product launches, announcing new sales, email marketing, shop images and showing off your products as a pair or combo.
And they’re good for marketing giveaways, announcing collaborations with other brands, Instagram stories and social media posts.
I have worked with brands that immediately request lifestyle pictures over flat lays because they believe that flat lays are boring. Just a product against a plain background with no cute faces. Flat lays ARE NOT boring! They give you a chance to stretch your artistic muscles and get creative with your products. There is no better time to be creative with flat lays than during holiday seasons. You can play with colors, themes, seasonal props like flowers or pine branches.
And that’s what I’ve been doing with Dazi Ties throughout this Christmas season. Their muted tones and easy patterns made for amazing pictures with holiday-themed props like dried oranges, pine branches and winter floral. Here’s why season flat lays increases sales:
1. Fresh Content Increases Engagement
It is important for brands to constantly be putting out new content, in fact its crucial for a successful digital strategy. New content increases audience engagement on social media and increased audience engagement on social media leads to increased sales.
Not only is new content better for your brand’s sales, but its better for your social media feed. When you do not have new content, you are not posting. Maybe you you are posting, but just posting the life out of reused content. Your brand needs a refreshing feed that will make a great first impression for potential customers and keep your loyal customers returning.
Flat lays are a quick way to get quality content for a scroll-stopping feed AND more audience engagement.
2. Show More Pairs and Combos
Remember when I said that flat lays are a great way to show off pairs and combos? That part is important to remember because when we style products together, the customer almost always buys the whole set instead of just one product.
Potential customers can see styling and how to pair your product with other things they might already have. It catches their eye to see things laid out in a pleasing way with complementary color tones.
Flat lays are a great way to show outfit options and other things that match your product.
3. Great for Ads
Flat lays in your social media feed is a scroll-stopping image because it will immediately capture your audience’s attention. The colors, patterns and simplicity of a flat lay is just so pleasing to the eye, it can’t look away! We all know that a scroll-stopping imaging is crucial to an affective ad. Add some text around the image that forms an emotional connection with your reader, add a captivating headline and you have an effective ad.
4. Converts Into Sales
In our experience, our brands have more sales from flat lays than from lifestyle photography. Lifestyle photography is my favorite, but I’ve heard time and time again that flat lays generate the most sales for my brands. Having a mix of lifestyle photos and flat lays helps your brand to stick out to potential customers and generates the most sales for your brand.
