The journey to this wedding was longer than most. It started with a drive to Salt Lake City, a flight to a Seattle, a place to sleep in Olympia and another drive out to Elbe, Washington. When I looked up Elbe, Washington on the map, I thought, “why would anyone get married in Elbe?” It was a tiny town, out in the middle of nowhere. I convinced Luke to take the drive with me because A. I’m bad at directions B. There’s no signal in Elbe and C. The company was way better.
We got to Elbe and found out it’s a very historic train town, with one very small and very cute church building. This church was built in 1906. It seats 46 people and is the second smallest church in the nation. Just while we were there there were visitors from China, Russia, California, Oregon and all over Washington. They hold church service in it ever month and rent it out for wedding ceremonies.
The first pew on the left was from the original church in 1906, but the rest were built in the 50s. In the front right, there’s a tiny organ that is all pump – no electricity. It was only loud enough to fill the tiny church building.
The son of the bride came in style ready to walk him momma down the aisle. He patiently waited for him mom to come out of her dressing room. Also patiently waiting stood the groom.
She came out with a look of determination.
The bride’s daughter went down the aisle first dropping feathers from her basket.
These two followed close behind.
The ceremony was short and sweet as the bride’s step-father led the ceremony. They exchanged vows, rings and sealed it with a kiss.
As they left the church, they rang the church bells. Everyone in Elbe looked at the church as the bride and groom came out husband and wif
The wedding coordinator in Elbe was wonderful and made the wedding day smooth and successful for the Dear couple.
