Depending on the location you love will determine the time we begin our session because of sunset light. We will most likely start the session an hour or 2 before sunset! Take a look through these links or our blog to see what location you love the most and will fit the vibe you are looking for for your photoshoot!! Full blog: Kyleeann.com/blog.
Here are our favorite SLC and Provo locations!
SLC Area Locations:
Antelope Island: This location is 20 mins West of Layton, UT. This place gets really buggy so early spring and late fall are the only time of year to shoot there, so you images would be really unique!! There is a mix between the rocks and the salt flats here. It is $10 to enter into Antelope Island State Park per car, so we would probably need to meet at the parking lot at the entrance of the park and I would just jump into your back seat! There is a semi-clean outhouse to change here!
Spring: Engagements, Engagements, Bridals.
Salt Air: This is in Magna, 25 west of SLC. You can get the salt flats look without a 2 hour drive to the actual salt flats! It has a short walk from the parking lot past the Salt Air concert venue! No out house to change in here!
Spring: Bridals.
Memory Grove: Memory Grove is a park VERY close to the Utah State Capitol, just a walk away. This location is lush and green in the spring and summer! It has stone lined walkways that are covered in vines and blossoms. There is a pond and a pretty bridge as well as large willowy trees! We generally meet at the top of the park just east of the Utah State Capitol building along the street and walk down! Dogs are allowed in this park FYI but they generally don’t interfere with pictures! The hill to the West creates a little bit of a earlier sunset as well so we would start here a little earlier than other places!
Spring: Family, Summer: Engagements, Fall: Bridals, Bridals
Rooftop Location: This location is at the top of the Exchange Place parking garage. It is 7 floors. You just pay for parking (around $5) and head to the top! There are views of the sunset through the buildings and a view of the mountains to the East! Its my go-to for “city-type” pictures! * Update: They now require a “photo pass” to shoot here. Harmon’s parking lot is nearby and similar!
Spring: Engagements, Summer: Engagements (with Memory Grove)
Utah State Capitol: This is a very classy venue but can easily get very dark inside! Getting to this location earlier in the day is key! The grounds are super pretty to shoot at as well! It is free to shoot here but generally not available on weekends if they have weddings happening!
Spring: Bridals (with Temple Square) Summer: Bridals (with Memory Grove)
International Peace Gardens: This location is a very unique location! It is a park that highlights all sorts of international cultures. It is well manicured and has lots of different looks! It is west of downtown SLC and free to shoot at.
Spring: Bridals
Ensign Peak: This is the mountain in north SLC and has a huge view of SLC. It is free to shoot here and looks great in every season!
Spring: Engagements (with Exchange Place), Summer: Engagements, Fall: Engagements
Neff’s Canyon: Gorgeous canyon, overlooks the valley. It is a small canyon, with a perfect view of the valley for the sunset!
Spring: Bridals (at the end of post)
SLC Temple: Temple Square is an easy go to location with lots of flowers and variety and the Temple!
All Seasons: Multiple Posts
Albion Basin: This location is very seasonal and very mountainy! It is at the very top of Little Cottonwood Canyon. The gates opens after the snow melts in July most years. There are lost of wildflowers in July, into August! The parking at this location is extremely limited. Because of this, we will drive up to the location together in the same car, and I require bringing an extra person assigned only to dropping us off if parking is not available. Cops give tickets quite often so it is necessary. It is free to shoot here currently!
Summer: Bridals
Jordan Pines Campground: This location is a foresty location in Big Cottonwood canyon! It looks great in all seasons and is very easy to access!
Summer: Bridals
Favorite Provo Locations:
Tibble Fork: This is in American Fork Canyon! This location has a reservoir and a beautiful mountain view! There is a small fee ($6) to enter into the American Fork Canyon. For this location we will meet at the LDS church at 4679 W 11000 N, Highland, UT 84003 so I will jump into your back seat! This location has a large mountain to the West that creates an earlier sunset, so we would shoot a little earlier here!
Winter: Engagements, Engagements. Spring: Engagements
Squaw Peak: This location has a beautiful view of the upper Provo canyon as well as over Utah County! The gate doesn’t open until April or so, due to snow, so this link shows what views you can see before then!
Winter: Engagements, Summer: Bridals
Aspen Grove: Up above Sundance resort is Aspen Grove! It has a beautiful Mountain View and lots of trees! There is also a stone auditorium nearby and a wooden bridge. It is about $500 to shoot at Sundance but this location is free!
Winter: Engagements
Utah State Mental Hospital Orchard: A hidden gem of Utah County, there is a large orchard in front of the mental hospital in Provo. It is $20 to shoot there, and the fees must be paid to the front desk before the shoot so be sure to note that! The blossoms come from late-march into April depending on the weather! There is a large castle in the back of the hospital. It is used often for movies, so you have to double check for permission that it is available to use prior to showing up!
Spring: Engagements, Engagements with Castle, Fall: Engagements
