It’s wintertime and snow is falling! Even though it’s COLD outside, it’s a beautiful time for family pictures. We took these Beaver Mountain Family Pictures last month, and they were MAGICAL.
Here are some helpful tips for taking picture-perfect family pictures in the snow.
Choose the Right Clothing
Dressing appropriately for the weather is essential when it comes to taking outdoor photos. Have everyone in your group wear comfortable layers that will keep them warm, but also move freely so they won’t feel too restricted during the photo shoot.
Don’t forget hats, gloves, and scarves—these accessories can add fun pops of color and texture to your shots. These cutie kids were holding hand warmers in their pockets. Plus, they put on bigger coats in between shots.
Choose a Good Location
When selecting a location for your shoot, try to find somewhere that has plenty of open space without too many distractions like trees or garbage cans (unless you want them!). Look for areas with lots of natural light or shade if possible; this will help create beautiful lighting effects on your photos.
Also consider areas with interesting backdrops such as a nearby lake or mountain range — these can make your shots even more unique! Finally, don’t forget to check the weather forecast before you plan your shoot; it’s best to avoid windy days as they can create blurred images and make it difficult to keep everyone still.
We have LOTS of beautiful snowy locations that are AMAZING for family pictures.
With these tips in mind, you should be able to capture some magical memories this winter season!
