Pacific Northwest Fox Island Wedding | Kayla & Cory

Fox Island Wedding

Thanks to Kayla and Cory, it was my very first time shooting a Pacific Northwest Fox Island wedding. In fact, it was my first time ever being there, despite the fact that I grew up so close. Pacific Northwest weddings have a certain appeal to them that you can’t reproduce anywhere else. We got so lucky with the weather, despite Washington’s reputation for rain.

The Wedding Ceremony

One of the most special moments was seeing Kayla’s little brother Noah stepping up to walking her down the isle. With tears in his eyes, he walked her safely down the isle to where Cory was waiting. Kayla’s father passed away years ago, so Cory made sure her dad was still a part of the ceremony by putting photograph of him in her bouquet. Noah did a great job as her daddy’s representative. There wasn’t a dry eye as she gracefully made her way to her sweetheart.

Speaking of tears…Cory’s vows were insane! I still can’t get over how perfect his vows were. It’s every girl’s dream to be spoken to the way Cory spoke to Kayla, you could feel the love radiating off of him and filling the room. In the picture you can see his brother getting really emotional as he listened to Cory, but he wasn’t the only one. Every single person in the room was in tears.

Sometimes I find myself getting caught up in the decorations and guests and flowers and pictures, especially having shot so many weddings, I forget what makes them most magical… Hearing his vows, seeing them together, my old friend and my new friend, feeling the love, it reminded me what weddings are about and how privileged I am to experience that, from all angles.

Let the Wedding Celebrations Begin

There’s so much to say about my history with Kayla, but I’ve already shared all about our story. In 2016, when I shot their engagement session, I wrote all about it. Needless to say, I was excited for this wedding ceremony, right along with the wedding guests.

I wasn’t the only one who flew in for the wedding. Some of the family flew in from Virginia. It was beautiful to see all the families, friends and loved ones come together to be a part of this important day for Kayla and Cory.
